AI for Everyday Life: Save Time, Get Organized, and Make Life Easier

Curious about AI but not sure where to start? This fun, hands-on class introduces everyday adults to practical ways AI can simplify daily tasks, save time, and help with planning, writing, and organizing. Participants will explore how to use free AI tools like Chat GPT to create grocery lists, draft emails, organize to-do lists, plan trips, and more - all in a friendly, low-pressure enviormnet. No tech experience required. Bring your curiousity!

*Students are encouraged to bring smartphones, tablets, or laptops to participate, but not required.

Running a small business often means wearing every hat - sales, marketing, customer service, admin - all while trying to grow. In this hands-on workshop, business owners will learn how to use free AI tools to streamline repetitive tasks, create customer emails, generate marketing content, build simple follow-up systems, and reduce time spent on routine work. Participants are encouraged to bring a sample of their own business writing - such as a social post, email, or brochure - so they can practice customizing AI outputs to match their personal brand and voice. No tech experience required. Everyone will leave with AI-generated templates they can start using immediately. 

*Students encouraged to bring a laptop, tablet, or smartphone, in addition to a sample of their own business writing. 

*Must be 18 or older.

Welding 101

Have you always wanted to learn how to weld just for a hobby or small DYI projects around the house, but the cost and time to learn seemed impossible?

You now have a workable option.

The ASUMH Technical Center is offering an afternoon Beginners Welding 101 class. Tailored to include welding safety, welding machine setup with troubleshooting tips, and hands on application. The 12 hour class is broken up into 2 hour class periods 12pm - 2pm on Tuesdays, and Thursdays for 3 consecutive weeks. All supplies will be provided. However, students must bring a long sleeve cotton shirt to wear. 

This will be instructed by a seasoned welder with fabrication experience and who is excited to share with you his knowledge of this fascinating skill.

*Must be 18 years or older in order to attend class.

*Technical Center is located on Hwy 62 (across from Plumlee Tire).

Filmmaking 101: The Art of Content Creation

Ready to bring your VIDEO ideas to life!? Join Film Director Justin Jackola for “Video Creation 101”—a fun, hands-on workshop for all ages. Learn storytelling, shooting, and editing basics, then walk away with your own short video. Perfect for businesses, creatives, and anyone with a story to share!

This in-person, 4-day workshop dives into the fundamentals of video creation and empowers participants to bring their unique stories to life. Taught by Film Director and Creative Producer Justin Jackola, the course covers everything from storytelling techniques to the technical skills needed to shoot and edit compelling video content.

Each day focuses on a different stage of the filmmaking process:

Day 1: The World of Video Creators

Day 2: Camera, Light, & Sound Gadgets

Day 3: Shoot Beautifully

Day 4: Editing/Post-Production

Students will learn the power of the camera, explore the principles of visual storytelling, and create their own short videos by the end of the course. Outside of class, participants will be assigned to shoot video clips to be edited in class, bringing their creative ideas to life in the heart of Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Students must bring:

  • Video camera (Smartphone, DSLR, Prosumer, etc.) (Note: Smartphone users may be required to purchase/download a high-quality camera app)
  • Laptop/Tablet/Phone with video editing software installed (instructions will be provided on recommended free/affordable options)
  • Outside of workshop hours, each participant will be assigned the exciting opportunity of filming their own video clips to be used for our class project and will need transportation and equipment to complete this task.

Schedule:

  • 4 Days (November 10th - 13th)
  • 3 hours per day
