Filmmaking 101: The Art of Content Creation

Ready to bring your VIDEO ideas to life!? Join Film Director Justin Jackola for “Video Creation 101”—a fun, hands-on workshop for all ages. Learn storytelling, shooting, and editing basics, then walk away with your own short video. Perfect for businesses, creatives, and anyone with a story to share!

This in-person, 4-day workshop dives into the fundamentals of video creation and empowers participants to bring their unique stories to life. Taught by Film Director and Creative Producer Justin Jackola, the course covers everything from storytelling techniques to the technical skills needed to shoot and edit compelling video content.

Each day focuses on a different stage of the filmmaking process:

Day 1: The World of Video Creators

Day 2: Camera, Light, & Sound Gadgets

Day 3: Shoot Beautifully

Day 4: Editing/Post-Production

Students will learn the power of the camera, explore the principles of visual storytelling, and create their own short videos by the end of the course. Outside of class, participants will be assigned to shoot video clips to be edited in class, bringing their creative ideas to life in the heart of Mountain Home, Arkansas.

Students must bring:

  • Video camera (Smartphone, DSLR, Prosumer, etc.) (Note: Smartphone users may be required to purchase/download a high-quality camera app)
  • Laptop/Tablet/Phone with video editing software installed (instructions will be provided on recommended free/affordable options)
  • Outside of workshop hours, each participant will be assigned the exciting opportunity of filming their own video clips to be used for our class project and will need transportation and equipment to complete this task.

Schedule:

  • 4 Days (November 10th - 13th)
  • 3 hours per day
  • Nov 10 - 13th, 2025
    Mon - Thu for 1 week from 5:30 - 8:30 pm
