In this 4 week project-based 2-hour class (each week), regardless of your type of sewing machine or level of sewing, come learn to use your own home sewing machine. Learn how to thread and use all the various functions of your own machine, by a talented and well-seasoned professional sewer. 

Supplies: Students will bring their own sewing machine, fabric (project of choice), and any other sewing supplies.

“Value” in visual arts is how dark or light a surface is. Most accomplished artists know that value is more important than color. Training the eye to see value is key to creating believable, three-dimensional illusion when drawing or painting. In this course, students will complete assignments that improve the artist's ability to see value and use simple tools to find the value of any given object.

Appropriate for age levels 15 thru Adult.

It is recommended that students take Basic Drawing I or have some drawing experience.

Class for beginner and intermediate on how to handle the medium of water color. Learn to paint a painting in the first class period.

I am a graduate of the Kansas City Art Institute.                                     

I have been Art Director for BETTER HOMES & GARDENS magazine in Des Moines, Iowa and Art director for LEE RIDER JEANS & WESTERN WEAR in Kansas City, MO.                                                                                   

I have been teaching water color painting for 60 years and  have taught over 2,000 people to paint.                                                                 

I have an Art Studio and a Gallery with over 800 paintings. 

I love teaching art and watching people who thought they couldn’t paint, get excited as they grow with their new found knowledge.

Drawing from life using simple objects, students learn to use tools that develop skills to break down shapes into simple lines. With over 30 years as a commercial and studio artist, Janeen Schisser opened her studio in 2008 to teach students classical drawing and painting methods. Schissler Academy of Fine Arts was opened in Loveland, Colorado and for ten years saw as many as 400 students come to study. In the Two-Year Studio Certificate Program, students of Schissler Academy learned to paint and draw with over 60 courses written by Schissler.

In 2021 Janeen moved to the Arkansas to paint the beauty of the Ozarks. Janeen's work has been featured in exhibits and galleries throughout the United States and Canada, including the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. Both private collectors and corporations own Janeen's work, most recently those of Idaho Forest Industries, Coeur D'Alene Mines, and Leaning Tree Inc.

Awards and Distinctions include Plein Air Painters' U.S. Open, Whitby Island, Washington, September 2006, St. Judes Silver State Show and Auction, Las Vegas, Nevada, Best of Show. April 1995. Poster Artist for the 2004 Sandpoint Music Festival. Pastel Society of America, Purchase Award.
